2015 Resolutions

Happy New Years, guys! So I’ve constantly had a long list of things I want to do, accomplish,

1. Between running my blog full time, my own social media, and my vintage boutique, I kinda let some social media fall behind. I want to make time to be more present on my shops instagram, @AmericanGypsyVintage and my side project instagram, @basicsnotbasic

2. Since we’re on the topic of social media, I want to start using my tumblr again. By using it, I mean really using it. Not just sending my instagrams to it and calling it a day. I find it as such a great source of inspiration, that I might just make mine into inspiration posts and not just original content. I mean, how many platforms of original content can one have anyway? I like the idea of waking up early, making coffee, and spending 30 minutes or so on there. I think a little inspiration in the morning will do a mind good!

3. Last social media one, promise. I want to start using twitter again. I send my instagrams to it daily, and maybe once every two weeks I will post a meaningless thought.. probably something about pizza or a Miley Cyrus marathon. You know, ground breaking things. Since I’m much more of a visual person, and am in a very happy place where I don’t need to share emo lyrics on there anymore, I find myself solely on instagram. I can’t make this one a promise, or a priority, but I am going to try to share more!

4. Since Feb will be our 1 year of owning our shop, I want to make a resolution to redecorate a bit and spice things up a little. Also, to change our hours and try to open the store a bit earlier. Blah blah blah. But seriously. And the website, find time or hire someone to run it. Seriously.

5. It’s no secret that on my list of life long goals, I want to open up a coffee shop. While I may not be ready to at this moment, I want to use this year to put as much effort into reaching that goa as possible. I want to learn everything there is to know about coffee.. starting with how to make a good cup of joe myself. This project is always in the back of my mind, everyday. Time will tell and making the effort to prepare for that time is what I really need to push myself to do this year.

6.  S t r e t c h . I’m not one to rant about starting to exercise for my resolution, but yeah, maybe I should do that. I have the space, and could find the time, so maybe I will start up Tae Bo again. (I use to do it every night in high school) I’d love to get back into Yoga, but I don’t think I could find the time to make it to classes until maybe the summer. But hey, that’s still apart of 2015.. so yoga, you’re in my resolutions too! Along with taking advantage of mountain climbing once spring comes. I started to during the end of fall and loved it.

7. I guess I’ll do this one now since we’re on the typical resolutions. A few years ago my sister did a 30 day juice cleanse. I know this already will sound crazy to some, but ever since then I’ve always wanted to do one. After my birthday this month I’m going to start preparing to finally cross this one off the bucket list. In the past, it’s been to hard living in NYC.. running around from job to home to job to home, it would have been SO difficult to do one. Not to mention, the temptation of going out, basically every night. I think now, since I own my own business and can control my days, I can really do it at ease and properly. For the record, this isn’t for weight lost, since most people only lose like 10-15 lbs. Ever since last year when I had to get my galbladder out, I’ve had to be more aware of what I was putting in my body. To be honest, I eat very well since I’ve been a veg since 4th grade, but there’s still a lot of bad habits I want to break away from my doing this. Not to mention, a reboot for my body after my birthday (26 year of life and junk) and something to get me away from winter sluggish feeling, sounds amazing. Hoping by writing this down It will finally push me to accomplish it!

8. I want to start painting. I use to spend hours drawing, and was pretty okay at it. haha. I’ve been meaning to find time to buy canvas and paint all year, and always failed to do so. I put all my time towards my blog and boutique, but this is something that I really want to make time for in 2015.

9.- Spend time with my friends more, both new and old. Sometimes work becomes a 24/7 thing for me, and I can’t let it. Must make time for more boozy brunches, weekend thrifting trips, and dance partys, with those I know and love, and those I want to get to know and love more!

10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. Try making more vegetarian recipes from Pinterest. Discover more bands, share more music, and go to more shows.. like I use to. Travel more, even if it’s just small day trips. Make time to put down my phone and pick up a book. Make time to re learn french again.. or atleast try.. again. Oh yeah, and buy that ACNE leather jacket already.

BOOM! There you have it. My 2015 resolutions and goals. What are yours?
