At last, it’s cute vintage beanie season.. and what could possibly be more adorable than a beer beanie? (sarcasm here people) Worn like a true Brooklyn girl, I value this vintage PBR beanie almost as much as my vintage t-shirt collection! The best part- I got it for $5 from some sidewalk sale on Bedford Ave 2 summers ago. I remember talking the guy down from $15 to $5 because “It’s summer, man. Who’s going to wear a winter hat?” (At that very moment.. I was wearing a beanie. haha)
What I’m Wearing: Vintage varsity jacket from Beacons Closet (get the look here) | Vintage Nirvana tee from Salvation Army (almost had a heart attack when I found this. 50 cents well spent!) | Leather pants from Zara (get them here) | Black Nine West booties (get the look here) | Vintage PBR pom pom hat (get the look here) | Red bag by Angela Roi (get the look here)
It’s kinda crazy how you could hold onto one piece of clothing forever because of a memory made while wearing it. It might be a dress you had your first kiss in, a t shirt your grandma gave you, a sweater you were wearing when you landed your dream job… whatever it is, I love this quality in people. For myself, clothes have always come and gone- and come and gone- and come and gone. I’ve been thrifting since I was 5 and buying and selling since I was 16. For the past for years I’ve been attachless to clothes (other than the ones given to me from my mother and father as well as my t shirt collection.. duh) because at the end of the day, they’re just clothes. There’s a million more out there. I lead into this because this jacket I wore a couple winters ago when doing a photo series called “A Love Story” with my best friend Kadeem and was shot by the amazing Rog Walker. Blow are two photos from the series- check out the rest here!
Needless to say, this jacket holds amazing memories.. and I have the photos for proof. One piece that will be staying in my wardrobe for many, many years.
